RE: Is your TC safe from theft?

No matter where you park it, if they want it they'll take it. Pay up your insurance and don't sweat it.
My neighbor bought himself a brand spankin new Tahoe and a Contender 27 with twin 250s and had them stolen together, next day, from his driveway. Even with OnStar they cannot find it.
There are news stories of 32' to 38' new powerboats with twins on trailers, being taken from peoples back yards behind a fence in midday.
Nothing you can do about it. Worrying won't help. Enjoy your toy. There is a reason you insure it.
If it gets stolen get a good attorney to face insurance co.

How do you find storage for your camper?

I tried Yahoo and AOL search engines but all the results are worthless and not in FLORIDA. Is Yellow Pages for different towns only solution?
Help!

RE: Scissor steps and trailer tongue?

I dismount the camper at all campgrounds and lower it to floor. Have not used scissor steps in 4 yrs. We like to ride around at night and eat dinner in town or local restaurants. The boat can stay at campground or on water.

Mileage decrease on mandated 10% Ethanol.

I've noticed that non carrying mileage has dropped from 14 mpg city with non-ethanol laced gasoline to 10mpg city with 10% ethanol. My highway mileage has also dropped from 17 mpg non-ethanol to 14.6 with 10% ethanol.
I cringe to think what it will be with the camper on top this summer.
We must thank our Bird Brain elected representatives for this ethanol fiasco.
I feel sorry for those owning older boats and trucks. I hear it clogs them up fiercely.

RE: Happijac Clicking Problem?

My camper electric jacks have clicked since new. I believe it is normal. It is the pawl that keeps the whole thing from unwinding.
We unload the truck from camper everywhere we camp. It sits happily on the ground and goes back on top when we leave.

RE: Is an awning worth it?

A stern awning is a great addition. A side awning gives too little useable space and you get wet when it rains. We find that in summer with temps above 87 degrees we prefer to stay and eat inside camper than to put up an awning or set up a tent cover. We did buy one but never used it.

RE: Diesel versus Gas

I realize this is an endless debate, but two main reasons cited for using diesel are fuel economy and longevity. If you are putting a ton of miles each year on the truck, then diesel makes sense to me. But if you are not, it seems hard to justify the additional cost, both up front and for maintenace (which is higher for a diesel). A good gas engine can go 200,000 miles, for diesel you might double that. But if you drive 15,000 miles per year, and keep a diesel for 300,000 miles, that means you would drive the truck for 20 years. I am not sure I want to own a truck that long. A lot of other advances get made over the years, and there are a lot of other things that will break that can be expensive to fix besides the engine.
So for most people, it seems like gas makes more sense economically (though I realize in some applications one might need the extra power a diesel can sometimes give).
Am I missing something?
You are missing a diesel. Replacing injectors, etc.
I agree with you.
1. Diesel trucks cost a lot more
2. Diesel fuel costs more
3. Few keep a truck 10+ yrs.
4. Diesel does not pay till you drive 25k miles a yr.
5. Diesel mileage is way overrated by its addicts.
6. Gasoline vehicles are more reliable (read diesel forums)
7. Gasoline vehicles are cheaper to repair.

RE: To unload or not to unload?

I always unload if stay is for more than one night. It's easier to ride around in truck without camper.
I have about 90 to 100 load/unloads on electric jacks to date

RE: '03 Lance wing dry rot - pics

Check for leaking tanks, shower pan or sinks. Water drips onto inner (under) floor and flows to rear where it wicks up into insulation.
I have an 04 I keep outside in rain and do not have a rot problem yet.
